Benefits of Individual and Small Group Virtual Homeschool

Academics Plus has been homeschooling students in the Atlanta area for over a decade, working with students and parents who value one-on-one education. With the spread of COVID-19, we have seen the need for our services move from a specific group to entire communities. We understand this time can be stressful for parents, especially with the unknowns surrounding school closures. However, whether you choose to educate your child at home yourself or move to a formalized home learning program like ours, you can expect many benefits of personalized instruction.

Trust

In the one-on-one and small group environment – virtual or physical – the instructor listens to your child and builds a friendly rapport that supports learning. In this environment, students become more open to asking questions and clarifying concepts they do not understand.

Building Foundational Knowledge

In the one-on-one or small group session, instructors work closely with your child until they have a solid understanding of each concept. There is no “winging it” in such close parameters!

Personalized Assignments

In addition to supporting students with school-assigned packets, our instructors are equipped to build personalized learning plans for each student. These plans take into account students’ interests, strengths, and opportunities for growth. If your student has a particular passion, please share that with us so we can integrate it into sessions.

Process-Focused Instruction

Many students come to homeschooling after being in a traditional school environment that emphasizes grades. While we provide plenty of feedback and assessment, the one-on-one model frees students of the external expectations surrounding performance, allowing them to explore their own interests and develop a deeper relationship with learning. Students in our program are generally less fearful of failing, which allows them to take risks and learn more.

Fun

Virtual homeschool does not have to be stagnant or boring. Just like in our in-person sessions, we incorporate fun, games, and movement to keep your child engaged. No falling asleep at the desk here!

There is no doubt that the unprecedented spread of COVID-19 has been disruptive, to say the least. However, as homeschool instructors who believe in the power of one-on-one and small group learning, we are excited to see more parents turn to personalized instruction for their children.
