Shannon Yarbrough
Educational Therapist

Shannon Yarbrough is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Georgia College and is a graduate of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. Over the past 15 years, Shannon has taught reading and writing in a variety of contexts, from serving as a tutor and coordinator of the Center for Writing and Speaking at Agnes Scott to volunteering as a Leadership Resident at the Harpswell Foundation in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Shannon also fulfilled a temporary role as an Admission Counselor at Agnes Scott and enjoys working with students on application essays for school admissions and scholarships, as well as teaching reading and writing strategies for test-taking. In her one-on-one work, Shannon encourages students to embrace imperfection to unleash creative ideas before guiding them through different approaches to polishing their pieces. Because reading is the foundation of excellent writing, Shannon also loves learning about her students’ reading interests to help them build a regular and fulfilling reading practice.

In addition to reading and writing, Shannon has a passion for global education. She has traveled to six continents and led high schoolers abroad to France, Italy, and Argentina through the Experiment in International Living.
