Jenny Millkey
Educational Therapist
Jenny received her Educational Specialist degree in Educational Psychology, Gifted & Creative Education from the University of Georgia, as well as a B.A. in Religion and Social Justice from Agnes Scott College. A native Atlantan, Jenny also received an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at Atlanta International School. While at Agnes Scott, Jenny worked as a tutor in the Writing Center. Jenny has also received her TESOL/TESL certification and spent time student-teaching middle school and second grade ESOL at Atlanta International.
After college, Jenny attended seminary at University of the South's School of Theology. She received her M.A. in Religion, then chose to step away from the path of ordination. Instead, she opted to follow her passion of teaching and dove into tutoring full-time. After time spent tutoring, Jenny found herself in the classroom full- time where she began implementing multi- sensory teaching methods, including the Orton-Gillingham methodology. Jenny completed her year-long, 70-hour Associate Level training at The Schenck School in 2015-2016 and discovered a passion and calling to empower students with the tools for decoding and making sense of language—and then translating those skills across all curriculum! Subsequently, she has taken 40 additional classroom training hours and is currently finishing her Classroom Educator Practicum, all through the Dyslexia Resource. Outside of Orton-Gillingham, Jenny also brings Handwriting Without and Keyboarding Without Tears certifications.
Jenny’s targeted research interests have been (1) helping teachers recognize giftedness in students and (2) supporting the affective education of gifted and twice-exceptional youth through bibliotherapy, social-emotional learning, and community outreach.
Jenny is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of 4/1/2021.
