Transition Program

We believe that every child deserves an opportunity to learn in a nurturing environment that builds a happy, capable, confident, life-long learner.

In Atlanta, we are blessed with seemingly endless school options; however, many families choose to follow a non-traditional route in order to target specific learning needs. This one-on-one instruction by highly skilled learning specialists allows for their child to make greater gains than they would in the classroom setting due to the individualized curriculum and intensive intervention.
The goal of our Transition Program is to strengthen and develop the cognitive processes necessary for learning so that students can rebuild their academic stamina and experience future success in a mainstream classroom as a more teachable student.

How Does The Program Work?
We blend cognitive therapy with enriched academics to increase the cognitive efficiency and flexibility of each learner. Our aim is to improve processing speed and retrieval fluency, while building working memory and developing lasting executive functioning skills. Each cognitive and educational therapy session can include instruction across a broad range of academic subjects, including reading, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. All sessions offer concentrated attention designed to meet the individual needs of each student.

Our team of educational consultants starts by administering a Learning Checkup which helps to determine the level of support each child will need. While some students may require one-on-one instruction for all subjects, others may benefit from a hybrid program which includes a mainstream classroom experience for a portion of their learning, as well as the individual support of our cognitive and educational therapy sessions. Our Homeschool Support Program is designed to meet each child at their current level and equip them with the necessary tools and confidence to exceed expectations.

Each team members holds a minimum of a B.S. in fields such as Special Education, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Child Development, Medicine, Health and Society, Psychology, Elementary Education or other related areas.
Backed by a breadth of nurturing instructors with hands-on experience, training and passion, we guarantee that your children will be well supported and challenged to reach their full potential.

What Can I Expect?

  • The Academics Plus Transition Program functions like a homeschool program, only we provide the academic setting and instruction. Students must be enrolled in the Georgia Home School Study Program and submit a Home Study Program Declaration of Intent.

  • The time of day for instruction and number of hours per day varies based on the individual needs of students and their families.

  • Each student is required to complete 30 minutes of homework daily. Homework will target the specifics needs of each student and may include cognitive exercises, reading, memory work, endurance training or physical activity. Our instructors will ensure the necessary supports are provided to put each student on the right track to success!

Student Assessments
Each student is assessed annually utilizing the Woodcock Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities and Academic Achievement, along with the Test of Silent Contextual Reading Fluency. These evaluations will allow both educators and parents to mark the progress of the student based on their pre-test and post-test achievement levels. We also host quarterly progress meetings, provide written reports to keep parents informed, and ensure that any future transitions are supported.
