Shirley Pennebaker
Founder of Brainjogging

Shirley Pennebaker began her career in education as a teacher of students diagnosed with learning disabilities and/or behavior disorders. She quickly recognized “learn-forget” patterns in many students signaling underlying cognitive processing issues with their learning. After obtaining a Master’s Degree in Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders, the LaGrange City School System chose her to pilot the first “Self-Contained Learning Disability classroom.” Upon veering away from the educational model, Shirley sought information from medical journals, neurology, and researchers to create a model rooted in scientific research instead of education norms. This model jumpstarted the creation and development of Brainjogging. Brainjogging is a cognitive therapy computer tool that is used to increase and enhance students’ ability to process information more rapidly and efficiently.

Shirley is in the office on a weekly basis bringing her knowledge and creativity to continue the cognitive development of our students. As the inventor of Brainjogging, she does not fall short of creating new and exciting activities for our students while also using the tried-and-true Brainjogging method.
