Meg Goddard
Educational Therapist
Meg Goddard holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Gifted Education from the University of Virginia. During her undergraduate career, she earned dual degrees in Statistics and English Literature with a minor in Latin from the University of Tennessee. During college, she began working as a private tutor, as well as a Pre-Calculus Supplemental Instructor and Accounting/Finance Tutor for NCAA Division I student-athletes through the University of Tennessee.
Following graduation, Meg spent three years in private industry before she began her professional teaching career at Knoxville’s prestigious Webb School. At Webb, Meg taught all of the middle school’s advanced math classes for 7th and 8th graders, including the first Honors Geometry courses offered through the middle school. During her time as a middle school teacher, Meg also participated in Singapore Math training, and she volunteered extensively as a weekly service-learning program coordinator with the Boys and Girls Club.
After relocating to Atlanta, Meg began teaching 9th and 10th-grade mathematics (Honors Geometry and Algebra II) at The Lovett School. Additionally, she pursued neuroscience training for educators through The Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning.
Seeking a change from the traditional classroom setting, Meg has now brought her love of working with students to Academics Plus. Meg has a special interest in understanding the science behind the way in which children learn, and she uses that knowledge to find approachable and concrete ways for students to excel. Executive functioning, differentiated instruction, educational technology, assessment, underachievement, neuroscience, and creativity are all research areas of particular interest for Meg who is delighted to continue her career as a member of the Academics Plus team.
Outside of work, Meg is actively involved as a volunteer with Girls State, a nonprofit civic engagement program for rising high school seniors. She rose through the ranks as a delegate, junior counselor, senior counselor, and now serves as a lead senior counselor, investing 300+ service hours annually.
Meg is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of 3/29/2021.
